A recent report indicates that suggested edits for xAI’s Grokipedia, an online encyclopedia, have not been addressed since April, raising questions about the platform's active development.
Grokipedia, an ambitious project from Elon Musk's xAI featuring AI-generated articles, was once touted by Musk as a "massive improvement" over Wikipedia. However, according to an investigation by Lawfare, the platform appears to have ceased updates on April 24th. Lawfare stated, "As far as we can tell, no entry has changed in more than three months," highlighting a significant pause in content moderation and maintenance.
Launched in October 2025 as v0.1 with an initial catalog of 885,000 articles, Grokipedia swiftly expanded to over 6,000,000 articles by its v0.2 release in November 2025, as detailed on grokipedia.com/live. Despite this growth, the same "live" page paradoxically features a "Recent changes to..." section that currently displays the message: "No live edits available right now," underscoring the reported inactivity.
While users retain the ability to suggest new articles and propose edits to existing pages, Lawfare's extensive review of both popular and less-frequented Grokipedia entries revealed a stark lack of updates. "In our subsequent analysis of 34,519 pages with at least one suggested edit in our sample, containing a total of 225,496 recommended edits, we found no accepted or rejected corrections dated within the past three months," Lawfare confirmed, indicating a complete halt in processing user contributions.
xAI has not yet responded to requests for comment regarding Grokipedia's status. The perceived lack of activity has led users on platforms like Reddit and X to speculate whether Grokipedia is "dead." Adding to these concerns, Lawfare also pointed out that Elon Musk's last mention of Grokipedia on X dates back to February, further suggesting a potential shift in focus from the project.
