In a social media saga reminiscent of past internet drama, Shivon Zilis revealed on X that she and Elon Musk, the father of her four children, have ended their relationship.
To make the announcement, she quote-tweeted a post from an account that tracks follower changes, which noted that Musk had unfollowed her. The post was sponsored by Kalshi, adding a layer of irony to the situation.
In a candid statement, Zilis wrote, “It’s hard to go from in love to let go in a week with no warning, but that’s just how it is sometimes.”
Beyond their personal history, Zilis testified earlier this year that she managed Musk’s entire AI portfolio, including Tesla, Neuralink, and OpenAI, working 80 to 100 hours a week to identify bottlenecks and solve them.
During a court case involving Musk and Sam Altman, Zilis denied under oath that she was his chief of staff. However, Musk testified that she held the role, causing laughter in the courtroom.

She added, “Given the tumultuous nature of his early life, his often tortured soul, and how hard he fights for humanity I wanted him to feel the deepest and most stable form of love this world can provide.”
Zilis concluded by recommending a memoir written by Maye Musk, Elon’s mother, as a source of inspiration during difficult times.
