China Establishes AI Standardization Committee to Drive Industry Growth
Originally reported byenglish
China has created a technical committee for AI standardization to help grow its AI industry. This committee, led by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, will focus on setting and updating standards for AI-related sectors.  This step marks the first initiative of its kind, signaling the beginning of a more structured approach to AI development in China.  This move is in line with decisions made during the Central Economic Work Conference in December, which called for an "AI-plus" initiative to support future industries.  In 2023, China’s AI industry reached a significant size of 578.7 billion yuan (approximately 80.5 billion U.S. dollars), driven by 4,482 AI companies, as reported by the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology.
