With the introduction of GPT-6, the chatbot is evolving to include interactive elements directly within user conversations.
OpenAI is unveiling a new Intelligent UI feature for ChatGPT that enables the bot to answer queries using interactive visuals alongside text. This update, which launches alongside GPT-6, grants ChatGPT the capability to combine textual answers with diagrams, charts, forms, tappable buttons, and various other graphical components.
In a blog post detailing the changes, OpenAI explained that GPT-6 was trained to know when to generate interactive visuals over text and how to format them. The company shared an example where ChatGPT could display a diagram of a seven-speed bicycle if asked about its design, complete with interactive buttons that highlight different parts.
Another demonstration showed how ChatGPT could teach users to play Mahjong by generating visuals of tiles and sorting them into categories for scrolling. Users can also request the creation of specific tools, such as a retirement savings calculator, retro game, or bill splitter, which appear in-line within the response.
While OpenAI announced the first GPT-6 models last month, the Sol and Luna versions are now arriving in ChatGPT. The update not only enables Intelligent UI but also allows ChatGPT to perform better web searches and provide quicker, partial answers while gathering information. Notably, GPT-6 demonstrated stronger resistance to attempts to bypass its safety training.
GPT-6 with Intelligent UI is rolling out globally to ChatGPT Plus, Pro, Business, and Enterprise users starting today, with access expanding to Go and free tiers on Thursday. Higher-tier subscribers will gain access to the mid-range GPT-6 Sol model, while Go and free users will utilize the more efficient GPT-6 Luna.
