BBC's Blue Planet III is distinguishing itself by retaining shots that would typically be discarded during post-production to demonstrate the content's authenticity.

Executive Producer Elizabeth White explained to The Guardian that previous iterations of the nature series were often edited to remove distracting elements. She noted that instances of floating plankton, boats, and buoys, or poor water conditions, would previously trigger a cut. In contrast, the new series embraces these rough edges to present a more genuine portrayal of the marine environment.

The show highlights the complexity of nature, featuring dolphins trapping fish with sea sponges and massive gatherings of crabs. White emphasized that the behavior of real ocean creatures is so intricate that it surpasses what even advanced AI could conceive.
