Financial giant Bank of America is issuing a reminder to its customers regarding safe banking practices, specifically urging them to avoid sharing their login credentials with any AI agents.

In an email campaign titled "Protecting your finances in the AI World," the bank explicitly advised customers never to exchange their username and password with an individual or external service, encompassing "any AI-enabled tool or agent that offers to act on your behalf."

While there is palpable frustration in the sender's tone, customers are increasingly handing over their login details as personal AI assistants gain popularity. Sharing banking credentials with an AI assistant carries significant risks, including unauthorized financial actions, the bank locking the account due to suspected fraud, or a security flaw causing credentials to leak to hackers.

Bank of America has not immediately responded to a request for comment regarding the email, but recipients are advised to heed the warning as account agreements at most banks hold customers responsible for access granted to third parties. The email explicitly states, "If you do share your credentials, keep in mind that you’re responsible for activity resulting from that access."
