Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei reportedly attended a meeting at the White House on Friday, signaling a potential thaw in the contentious relationship between the artificial intelligence company and the Trump administration.
For nearly two months, the Trump administration has been locked in a public dispute with Anthropic, labeling the company a “RADICAL LEFT, WOKE COMPANY” brimming with “Leftwing nut jobs” and a threat to national security. However, reports suggest a softening of this stance, largely attributed to Anthropic’s recently unveiled cybersecurity-focused model, Claude Mythos Preview.

Axios reported on Friday that Amodei was scheduled to meet with White House chief of staff Susie Wiles later that day. A source familiar with the negotiations emphasized the critical importance of this engagement, stating that “it would be grossly irresponsible for the U.S. government to deprive itself of the technological leaps that the new model presents” and that such a decision “it would be a gift to China.” The report further indicated that “some parts of the U.S. intelligence community, plus the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA, part of Homeland Security)” are currently testing Mythos Preview, with interest expressed by other government departments and agencies.
