AI research powerhouse Anthropic announced on Monday a significant new partnership with Google and Broadcom, aimed at substantially boosting its processing and compute capacity. This strategic move is designed to fuel its advanced Claude AI models, coming at a time when demand for Anthropic's AI solutions continues to surge dramatically.
The agreements are set to expand Anthropic's utilization of Google Cloud's Tensor Processing Units (TPUs), Google’s cutting-edge AI chips. This builds upon a prior collaboration from October 2025, which initially provided Anthropic with over a gigawatt of compute capacity.
Anthropic, through a recent blog post, confirmed that this newly secured compute capacity is slated to become operational in 2027. While the company did not disclose specific figures for this expansion, a recent SEC filing by Broadcom revealed that the deal encompasses an impressive 3.5 gigawatts of compute power.
According to Anthropic’s statement, the majority of this substantial compute infrastructure will be established within the United States. This initiative underscores and extends the company’s previously announced $50 billion commitment to invest in U.S. compute infrastructure.
Krishna Rao, CFO of Anthropic, articulated the company's vision in a press release: “This groundbreaking partnership with Google and Broadcom is a continuation of our disciplined approach to scaling infrastructure: we are building the capacity necessary to serve the exponential growth we have seen in our customer base while also enabling Claude to define the frontier of AI development. We are making our most significant compute commitment to date to keep pace with our unprecedented growth.”
Anthropic did not provide a response to TechCrunch's request for further comment on the announcement.
The company has witnessed an explosive increase in demand for its Claude models in recent months, largely driven by a growing base of enterprise customers. This expansion comes despite the U.S. Defense Department’s designation of Anthropic as a potential supply chain risk. Furthermore, Anthropic recently concluded a successful $30 billion Series G funding round, which valued the company at an estimated $380 billion.
Anthropic also revealed that its current run rate revenue has reached $30 billion, marking a substantial leap from the $9 billion recorded at the close of 2025. The company now boasts over 1,000 business customers, each spending more than $1 million on an annualized basis.
