Anthropic is set to significantly expand its AI computing capabilities through a new partnership with AMD, which includes the deployment of up to 2 gigawatts of AMD’s advanced AI GPUs.
Under the terms of this strategic alliance, AMD has committed to investing up to $5 billion in Anthropic. This substantial investment aims to bolster the AI company's computational power, facilitating the deployment of 2 gigawatts of AMD’s Instinct MI450 AI GPUs. These powerful processors will be integrated using AMD’s cutting-edge Helios rack-scale system, as revealed in a Wednesday announcement and previously reported by The Wall Street Journal.
The initial phase of this deployment will see the first gigawatt operational by the first half of 2027.
