Amazon is expanding Alexa+, its AI-powered assistant, with four new integrations that will begin rolling out in 2026: Angi, Expedia, Square, and Yelp. Amazon said the additions are designed to let people complete more real-world tasks through conversation, such as booking hotels, requesting quotes for home services, and setting appointments like salon visits. 

With Expedia, users will be able to compare options, book and manage hotel reservations, and ask for recommendations based on their preferences, for example, requesting pet-friendly hotels for a weekend trip to Chicago. 

These new partners join existing Alexa+ connections that already include services such as Fodor, OpenTable, Suno, Ticketmaster, Thumbtack, and Uber, which enable actions like reserving a restaurant table or ordering a ride without switching between separate apps. 

Amazon is positioning Alexa+ as a more natural, back-and-forth assistant, where people can speak normally, refine requests in stages, and adjust details as they go. The company cautioned that it is still unclear how widely consumers will embrace using an AI assistant as the front door to many online services, since most people are accustomed to visiting websites or using mobile apps directly. 

Still, Amazon offered an early look at usage, saying home and personal service providers like Thumbtack and Vagaro have seen strong engagement from early adopters. The approach mirrors a broader industry push to turn AI assistants into platforms that connect users with third-party services, but it comes with hurdles. 

To shift behavior, the experience must feel at least as fast and reliable as traditional apps. Providers may also need to offer a wide range of services comparable to what people expect from an app store, while becoming smart about when to suggest options without making the assistant feel pushy. 

If recommendations come across like ads, users may reject the model, raising the stakes for how these integrations are presented and triggered.
