Grok, the AI chatbot developed by Elon Musk’s company xAI, has introduced a new feature called Grok Studio that allows users to create and edit documents, code, and simple apps. Announced late Tuesday via X, Grok Studio is now available on Grok.com for both free and paid users.
The new feature provides a collaborative workspace where users can work alongside the AI in a separate window. According to the official Grok account, Grok Studio supports the generation of various content types including documents, reports, code snippets, and even browser-based games. Users can interact with the AI while working in real time, making adjustments or building new content directly within the studio environment.
Grok Studio is part of a growing trend among AI chatbots to include dedicated workspaces. OpenAI introduced a similar tool called Canvas for ChatGPT in October, and Anthropic followed with its own version called Artifacts for its Claude chatbot. Like these tools, Grok Studio offers the ability to preview HTML and run code in multiple programming languages such as Python, JavaScript, and C++. The layout allows generated content to appear in a panel beside the chatbot’s responses, helping streamline the creative process.
In addition to launching Grok Studio, xAI also announced Google Drive integration, making the tool more practical for document-based work. Users can now attach files from their Google Drive accounts directly to Grok prompts. The AI can analyze and interact with various file types, including documents, spreadsheets, and presentation slides, giving users an easier way to build upon or edit existing materials.
While Grok Studio may not be radically different from other similar tools, the combination of document generation, code execution, and Google Drive access aims to make it a useful companion for both casual users and developers.
