Ford has launched an artificial intelligence assistant this week, engineered to monitor and analyze millions of data points, with the aim of helping its Ford Pro commercial customers significantly enhance their profitability.

This strategic move reflects a widespread conviction among most automakers that substantial revenue opportunities lie within the realm of software solutions.

The Ford Pro AI system made its debut at Work Truck Week in Indianapolis and is now available to all U.S.-based subscribers of its Pro telematics service. This AI assistant is included as part of the existing subscription. While Ford does not disclose its specific number of U.S. subscribers, the company reports a global subscriber base exceeding 840,000.

Ford Pro, which generated an impressive $66.3 billion in revenue in 2025, represents a logical focal point for the company as it endeavors to deliver increased value to its paying customers. However, this is not Ford's sole AI initiative; earlier this year at CES 2026, Ford announced the development of an AI assistant for owners of its passenger cars and trucks. This consumer-focused AI is slated to launch first within the company’s smartphone application before expanding its integration into vehicles by 2027.

Ford emphasized to TechCrunch that this is far more than a conventional chatbot. The company stated that its proprietary systems furnish subscribers with comprehensive and detailed information regarding critical aspects such as fuel consumption, seatbelt usage, and overall vehicle health, rather than merely presenting diagnostic error codes when issues arise. Furthermore, it empowers managers with actionable insights into fleet-wide idle times, speeding incidents, and acceleration events.

Similar to its consumer-oriented AI assistant, Ford Pro AI is built upon Google Cloud infrastructure and leverages a suite of AI agents. According to Ford, the distinguishing factor, or "secret sauce," is its utilization of internal data gathered directly from each customer’s specific fleet, a method designed to significantly reduce the potential for AI hallucinations and errors.

The Ford Pro business division, which caters to a diverse range of clients including purchasers of Super Duty large trucks, commercial enterprises, government agencies, and rental companies, has emerged as a significant financial success for the automaker. Its earnings report revealed that the Ford Pro division recorded a net income of $6.8 billion in 2025, with paid software subscriptions for Ford Pro growing by a robust 30% in the same year.

Despite Ford's proactive rollout of advanced AI tools for its customers, the company's executive leadership has concurrently issued warnings regarding impending job reductions attributed to this very technology. Last year, CEO Jim Farley notably predicted that AI could halve the number of white-collar jobs across the United States. More recently, in January, Farley highlighted the critical necessity for essential workers in the U.S. to develop and maintain the infrastructure required to achieve its ambitious AI moonshot objectives.
