Figma is partnering with Google to bring Gemini AI models into its design platform, giving millions of users faster tools for creating and editing visuals. The collaboration integrates Gemini 2.5 Flash, Gemini 2.0, and Imagen 4 into Figma’s toolkit, enhancing workflows that already support more than 13 million active designers each month. Early testing showed a 50 percent latency drop in Figma’s “Make Image” feature, meaning users can now generate and edit visuals more quickly.

For designers, the update means they can generate images with simple text prompts, make edits without starting over, and collaborate more effectively across teams. By automating repetitive tasks, Gemini aims to free up time for creative problem-solving.

The partnership also reflects a wider trend of AI companies embedding their technology into widely used apps. Google has recently announced Gemini partnerships with Mercedes, Klarna, Virgin Voyages, GAP, and Deloitte, while Figma has also joined OpenAI’s ChatGPT integrations, signaling its intent to remain flexible in a competitive AI landscape.

This move ties into Google’s larger rollout of Gemini Enterprise, a conversational AI platform designed for businesses. With 65 percent of Google Cloud customers already using AI tools, the company sees integrations like this as part of its effort to expand AI adoption in daily work.

For the design community, the collaboration highlights AI’s growing role as an assistant rather than a replacement. By reducing manual edits and speeding up content generation, Gemini in Figma allows teams to move from ideas to final products with greater efficiency and more creative freedom. The partnership underscores both companies’ push to stay ahead as AI reshapes the future of creative work.
