eSelf is a new startup that was founded by the deep learning scientist who previously introduced Snap’s My AI chatbot. It has now raised $4.5 million in seed funding to develop a platform that allows businesses to create real-time video-based AI agents.
Now, the company’s goal is to offer a more interactive and lifelike alternative to text and voice-based AI. It focused on initial sectors such as education, sales, real estate, health, and wellness.
This company’s core feature includes AI agents that respond to queries in under 1.7 seconds. The company said this is faster and more natural than the response time of other traditional OpenAI in the market.
The eSelf platform allows users to build their own AI agents without any need for coding skills through a “no-code” studio. The agents can integrate with specific apps such as Salesforce or Calendly, which allows them to assist with scheduling appointments that provide content and reference data similar to how a human assistant would operate.
Dr Alan Bekker’s First Startup Sold for $100M
Alan Bekker, the founder of eSelf, is a specialist in machine learning and deep learning. He is passionate about understanding humans and how technology can replicate that. Bekker has a natural interest in math, and he completed his studies in engineering and computer science.
Bekker left machine learning and observed that it has the potential to revolutionize the way we interact with technology. He then went on the entrepreneurial path and founded Voca, his first startup. The technology was AI voice assistants for call centers.
The company gained significant clients, including popular American Express and TNT. However, in 2020, Snap acquired it for $100 million. At Snap, Bekker became the head of the Conversational AI team, but he left the company sometime before Snapchat launched My AI chatbot in 2023.
