Anthropic has announced the successful conclusion of its Series G fundraising round, securing an impressive $30 billion. This significant capital injection propels the company's valuation to $380 billion, marking a substantial increase from its previous Series F valuation of $183 billion.
Preliminary details regarding this funding round were initially reported by Bloomberg earlier in the week.
The latest funding initiative was spearheaded by Singaporean sovereign wealth fund GIC and investment management firm Coatue. They were joined by a consortium of other prominent co-leading firms, including D. E. Shaw Ventures, Peter Thiel’s Founders Fund, and Abu Dhabi’s MGX. Additional significant investors contributing to the round include Accel, General Catalyst, Jane Street, and the Qatar Investment Authority, among many others.
This substantial investment arrives as the artificial intelligence startup intensifies its competition with rival OpenAI for market share and public attention. OpenAI recently disclosed its own ambitions to secure an additional $100 billion in funding, a move that, if successful, could elevate its valuation to approximately $830 billion.
“Whether it is entrepreneurs, startups, or the world’s largest enterprises, the message from our customers is the same: Claude is increasingly becoming more critical to how businesses work,” stated Krishna Rao, Anthropic’s Chief Financial Officer, in an official press release. He added, “This fundraising reflects the incredible demand we are seeing from these customers, and we will use this investment to continue building the enterprise-grade products and models they have come to depend on.”
