Trump Touts $90B in AI and Energy Deals for Pennsylvania

At the first Pennsylvania Energy and Innovation Summit, President Donald Trump announced over $90 billion in private sector investments aimed at transforming the state into a major hub for artificial intelligence, energy, and technology infrastructure. The initiative includes major contributions from big tech and energy companies looking to build the next generation of AI capabilities in the region.

Much of the funding comes from energy firms capitalizing on Pennsylvania’s status as a leading natural gas producer. Blackstone is investing $25 billion in developing data centers and energy infrastructure in Northeast Pennsylvania, while First Energy plans $15 billion in expansion projects. Trump reinforced his support for domestic energy production with renewed calls to “drill, baby, drill,” a message echoed by several participating companies.

Other major energy investments include Enbridge’s $1 billion to expand gas pipelines into the state, Equinor’s $1.6 billion to increase natural gas production and support data center power, and Capital Power’s $3 billion plan to upgrade a gas facility over the next decade.

Big Tech was also prominently featured. Google, represented by President and CIO Ruth Porat, pledged $25 billion over two years to build AI-focused data centers across the broader PJM region, which spans 13 states and Washington, D.C. Google also signed a $3 billion, 20-year hydropower agreement with Brookfield Energy.

CoreWeave, a fast-growing cloud computing firm, will invest $6 billion to build a data center in Pennsylvania aimed at powering advanced AI applications. AI startup Anthropic is committing $2 million over three years, divided between cybersecurity education and energy research at Carnegie Mellon University.

Meta is contributing $2.5 million to support startups and small businesses in rural Pennsylvania through accelerator programs. Amazon Web Services CEO Matt Garman also appeared at the summit, reaffirming Amazon’s previously announced $20 billion investment to expand AI and cloud computing infrastructure in the state.

The announcements mark a major push to position Pennsylvania at the center of the nation’s AI and tech future, leveraging both its energy resources and expanding technology partnerships to drive long-term innovation and economic growth.
