OpenAI has officially launched ChatGPT apps, bringing popular services like Spotify, Canva, and Zillow directly into the chatbot. The new integrations allow users to interact with third-party platforms without leaving ChatGPT, mirroring the convenience of mini apps in messaging services but with the added intelligence of AI.

With Spotify, for instance, users can link their accounts to generate playlists, search for new releases, or receive personalized recommendations. Canva lets users design and edit content within ChatGPT’s interface, while Figma offers tools for creating and modifying diagrams and charts.

Zillow’s app uses its real estate database to show listings based on user preferences, such as homes with large backyards or affordable rentals nearby. Travel companies like Expedia and Booking.com are also part of the rollout, enabling users to search for hotels and flights with live pricing and availability. Coursera’s app adds access to online courses, letting ChatGPT recommend learning content during conversations.

OpenAI confirmed more apps are on the way, including Uber, DoorDash, Instacart, OpenTable, Peloton, Tripadvisor, and AllTrails, though the integrations are not yet available in the European Union. Developers will also be able to submit their own apps later this year, with OpenAI requiring them to be useful, trustworthy, and aligned with user needs. Examples include tools for booking rides, ordering food, or checking deliveries, while apps for ads or complex workflows are discouraged.

By embedding app controls directly into ChatGPT, OpenAI is expanding the chatbot’s role beyond conversation into a hub for productivity, entertainment, and everyday tasks. The move could significantly change how users interact with both AI and their favorite apps, blending chat-based prompts with practical services.
