Microsoft has announced that Copilot Voice and Think Deeper, powered by OpenAI’s o1 reasoning model, are now available for free without usage limits. Previously, free users faced restrictions when accessing these features, but the company has now removed them, enabling extended conversations with its AI assistant. This update follows Microsoft’s move last month to make the o1 model freely accessible to all Copilot users.
The Copilot team emphasized their commitment to expanding access to advanced AI tools, stating, “We are working hard to scale unlimited access to advanced features to as many people as possible, as quickly as possible, starting today with Voice and Think Deeper.”
However, Microsoft has warned that during periods of high demand, users may experience delays or temporary interruptions. Additionally, access may be restricted if security concerns, misuse, or violations of Copilot’s terms are detected.
This expansion marks a significant step in Microsoft’s AI strategy. It comes two years after Copilot was first introduced inside Bing search and follows a recent overhaul of the Copilot Pro subscription. Just last month, Microsoft bundled its Office AI features into Microsoft 365 and restructured Copilot Pro, which costs $20 per month.
Despite offering unlimited free use of Copilot Voice and Think Deeper, Microsoft is still promoting its paid Copilot Pro plan. Subscribers will continue to receive benefits such as priority access to the latest AI models during peak usage, early access to experimental AI features, and extended AI functionalities within Microsoft 365 apps like Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
With these changes, Microsoft is positioning Copilot as a more accessible and user-friendly AI assistant while maintaining premium options for users who need enhanced capabilities.
