Microsoft has announced the release of a native Copilot app for macOS, enhancing the capabilities of its AI assistant for Mac users. This new app mirrors the features available in the Windows version, allowing users to access the web-based Copilot, where they can upload images and generate both images and text.
The macOS version also introduces a dark mode for those who prefer a more subdued interface. Users can easily activate the AI assistant using a shortcut command, Command + Space, similar to the Alt + Space shortcut on Windows.
The launch is taking place today in the United States, the United Kingdom, and Canada, marking a significant step in Microsoft’s efforts to provide seamless AI assistance across different platforms. In addition to the Mac app, the Copilot app for iPad is receiving updates, including a new split-screen mode that enhances multitasking capabilities. This means users can now work more efficiently by viewing multiple applications side by side.
Moreover, users can now log into Copilot on their iPhone or iPad using their Apple ID. This update allows for the uploading of text or PDF files, enabling users to ask questions about the content or generate summaries of documents. This document summarization feature is expected to be available on the macOS app shortly, further improving the user experience.
This release comes shortly after Microsoft made its Copilot Voice and Think Deeper features available for free, allowing unlimited use. Previously, both features had restrictions for free users, but Microsoft has removed these limits. This change enables Copilot users to engage in extended conversations with the AI assistant, enhancing the overall interaction and utility of the Copilot services. With these updates, Microsoft aims to provide a more integrated and user-friendly AI experience across its platforms, making it easier for users to access and utilize AI assistance in their daily tasks.
