Microsoft has established a new engineering division called CoreAI – Platform and Tools to strengthen its focus on AI infrastructure and software development.
This initiative combines its developer division (Dev Div) and AI platform teams, along with select employees from the Office of the CTO division. The reorganization underscores Microsoft’s commitment to making AI a core priority, ensuring it stays at the forefront of the tech industry.
The new group will be led by Jay Parikh, who previously served as VP and global head of engineering at Meta and has a strong background in technical infrastructure and data center projects.
Parikh, who joined Microsoft in October after serving as CEO of the cloud security startup Lacework, will report directly to CEO Satya Nadella.
In an internal memo, Nadella emphasized that the company’s strategy for the coming year will revolve around “model-forward” applications designed to revolutionize application categories across the board.
This highlights Microsoft’s intent to innovate using advanced AI models that can redefine how software is built and utilized.
CoreAI’s formation reflects Microsoft’s aim to centralize its resources and talent to maintain a competitive edge in the rapidly evolving AI landscape.
