Google has quietly disclosed the pricing details for Veo 2, its latest AI video-generation model introduced in December. According to Google’s official pricing page, generating videos with Veo 2 will cost 50 cents per second, amounting to $30 per minute or $1,800 per hour. This pricing offers a benchmark for businesses and creators exploring AI-generated video content.
Jon Barron, a researcher at Google DeepMind, compared Veo 2’s pricing to major film productions, referencing the Marvel blockbuster “Avengers: Endgame,” which had a reported production budget of $356 million—approximately $32,000 per second. While AI-generated videos are far from replacing big-budget films, Veo 2’s capabilities focus on producing clips that are two minutes or longer, as highlighted in Google’s announcement.
Comparing it with other AI video tools, OpenAI recently introduced its Sora model to a select group of users through a $200 monthly ChatGPT Pro subscription. The pricing models reflect different approaches, with Veo 2 charging based on video duration while OpenAI includes Sora access within a subscription.
Google’s AI advancements continue to push the boundaries of video generation, and Veo 2’s pricing suggests it is targeting professional users and content creators who require high-quality AI-generated clips.
