Google Lens Goes Shopping: Real Price Checks and Inventory Insights

After introducing Google Lens to help users shop online, Google has expanded its application and visual search tool. It will now provide in-store shopping by offering product insights, price comparisons, and local inventory checks.

For example, if you see a toy and you want to buy it, you can click the picture of that toy from Google Lens and check the price and availability of the toy in your nearby stores. You can also check if the price of the toy is lower in other stores like Amazon or Walmart.

Google said that the new capability is powered by Shopping Graph’s vast database of 45 billion listings and Gemini AI models. The feature initially supports beauty products, toys, and electronics at partnered retailers like Target, Ulta Beauty, Macy’s, and Nordstrom.

According to Lilian Rincon, SR director of Google Products, this innovation blends the magic of holiday shopping with modern technology, offering reviews, price comparisons, and other essential product details to boost buyer confidence.

She also said that Google Lens already facilitates 20 billion monthly searches, and 20% of these searches are focused on shopping. The introduction of this feature aligns with customer demand for efficient, informed purchasing.

These new features highlight that Google is now integrating AI tools into everyday shopping, merging digital convenience with physical retail. Google is changing the shopping experience by providing price comparisons, inventory tracking, and payment flexibility.
