Google has unveiled a native version of its Gemini app for iPadOS, marking a significant upgrade from the previous iOS version, which only worked in compatibility mode on iPads. The new app brings various features tailored to take full advantage of the iPad’s capabilities, including multitasking with split view. Now users can run Gemini alongside other apps seamlessly.
Among the standout features are Gemini Live, allowing users to have natural conversations in over 45 languages, and Deep Research, which helps users generate reports and gather information quickly, saving valuable time. The app also introduces an Audio Overview function to easily process and comprehend audio files. Another feature, Canvas, offers a unique space for collaboration where users can co-create and edit documents and code with AI. Additionally, users can generate images and videos directly on their iPad, making the app even more versatile.
The Gemini iPadOS app is now available globally in all regions where Gemini is offered, and users can download it from the App Store. A major update to the app is the expansion of the Audio Overview feature, which, after receiving positive feedback, is now accessible in over 45 languages worldwide. Furthermore, Gemini now supports adding a homescreen widget and connects to Google Photos, enhancing user convenience.Although Gemini was initially launched for iOS in November, this new dedicated iPadOS app significantly enhances the iPad user experience, providing more streamlined multitasking and access to the app’s full range of features. The updated app is expected to receive widespread use thanks to its broader language support and additional integrations.
