Google announced the global rollout of AI Mode, its advanced search feature that lets users ask complex questions and follow up to refine results. Previously available only in the U.S., U.K., and India, AI Mode is now expanding to 180 countries in English, with more languages and regions to follow. As part of the update, Google is adding new agentic tools that let users book restaurant reservations directly within Search. Soon, this will extend to local service appointments and event tickets. Users can input detailed preferences such as party size, time, location, and cuisine, and AI Mode will scan across platforms to provide real-time booking options. This functionality is launching for Google AI Ultra subscribers in the U.S. under an experimental Labs program. Ultra, Google’s top-tier plan, costs $249.99 per month. In addition, AI Mode is introducing personalization features that tailor results based on user history. For example, a quick lunch query may return Italian restaurants with outdoor seating if past activity shows those preferences. The personalization begins with dining-related searches, with broader topics expected later. Users can adjust or disable these settings through their Google Account. Google is also making AI Mode more collaborative. A new “Share” button lets people send AI-generated responses to others, allowing them to join and continue the same conversation. The company says this will be useful for group activities such as planning events or trips. The expansion marks a significant step in Google’s AI strategy, enhancing Search beyond information retrieval to task completion and real-time recommendations. With personalized results, reservation capabilities, and collaborative tools, AI Mode is positioned as a more interactive assistant for daily planning and decision-making.
