CoreWeave has become the first cloud provider to commercially deploy Nvidia’s Blackwell Ultra chips, the company’s next-generation graphics processors designed for artificial intelligence workloads. The announcement was made on Thursday, marking an important milestone for both firms as demand for advanced AI hardware continues to surge. CoreWeave received deliveries of systems built by Dell using Nvidia’s GB300 NVL72 AI platforms. Each system includes 72 Blackwell Ultra GPUs and 36 Nvidia Grace CPUs, all liquid-cooled and assembled in the United States. These chips are expected to ship in larger volumes through the rest of the year. Nvidia says Blackwell Ultra can generate 50 times more AI content than the previous generation of Blackwell chips, a major improvement for developers training and deploying sophisticated models. The partnership highlights CoreWeave’s close ties to Nvidia, which owns a stake in the company. CoreWeave, though smaller than cloud giants like Amazon, Google, and Microsoft, differentiates itself by offering early access to Nvidia’s most advanced processors. The company rents these GPUs to other clouds and AI-focused businesses, making it an attractive option for firms racing to build new AI applications. Investors reacted positively to the news. CoreWeave’s stock rose 6% in Thursday trading, continuing a surge that has seen its share price quadruple since going public earlier this year. Dell’s shares gained around 2%, while Nvidia’s stock also edged up slightly. Nvidia executives, including CFO Colette Kress, previously confirmed that Blackwell Ultra shipments would begin this quarter, and the rollout has so far proceeded without major delays. The deployment is seen as a strong step for Nvidia as it continues to lead the AI chip market and for CoreWeave as it strengthens its position among specialized cloud service providers.
