With ChatGPT, Users Can Set Reminders and Recurring Tasks

OpenAI has expanded ChatGPT’s capabilities with the introduction of a new beta feature called “Tasks.” This exciting development allows paying subscribers to schedule reminders and set recurring tasks directly within the ChatGPT interface.

For instance, users can now ask ChatGPT to “Remind me to renew my driver’s license in three months” and get a prompt notification on their chosen device. The feature also allows recurring tasks like “Provide me with a meal plan every Sunday evening based on my dietary preferences” or “Send me a weather update every morning at 8:00 AM.

This marks a significant step towards creating more autonomous AI assistants. While still in its early stages, the “Tasks” feature allows ChatGPT to go beyond simple conversations and act as a proactive helper, assisting users in managing their schedules and staying organized.

To access this new feature, users can simply interact with ChatGPT as they usually would, but now they can schedule reminders and recurring tasks. ChatGPT may even proactively suggest tasks based on previous conversations or user behavior.

It’s important to note that while ChatGPT can now perform scheduled web searches for information, it cannot currently make purchases or engage in continuous, autonomous actions. This beta phase allows OpenAI to gather user feedback and refine the “Tasks” feature before expanding its capabilities and potentially making it available to free users in the future.

This new feature demonstrates OpenAI’s commitment to continuously enhancing ChatGPT’s functionality and exploring new ways for AI to assist users in their daily lives.
