Anthropic has launched a web app for Claude Code, its fast-growing AI coding assistant, letting developers create and manage multiple coding agents from a browser or the Claude iOS app. The rollout is available to subscribers on the $20-per-month Pro plan and the $100 and $200 Max tiers via claude.ai’s new “Code” tab. The move expands Claude Code beyond its original command-line interface and is designed to make spinning up coding agents easier wherever developers work.
The market for AI coding tools has become crowded, with GitHub Copilot, Google, OpenAI and Cursor all competing, but Anthropic says Claude Code is gaining ground: users have grown tenfold since May and the product now contributes more than $500 million in annualized revenue. Product manager Cat Wu credits the company’s models for traction and says the team adds “a bit of fun” to the experience.
Wu noted the terminal will remain the core workflow, while web and mobile bring the tool to more places. Anthropic also claims roughly 90% of Claude Code’s own codebase was written by its AI models, and Wu says she now mainly reviews outputs rather than typing code herself. The latest wave of agentic tools, including Claude Code, goes beyond autocomplete by letting developers delegate tasks to autonomous agents, shifting engineers toward supervising and integrating AI work.
Not all feedback is positive: a recent study found some developers were slower with tools like Cursor, which may reflect time spent prompting, waiting for results, or fixing errors in large, complex repos. Still, enterprise adoption is accelerating. Examples include LLM assistants inside major banks, brand campaigns powered by image generators, and hybrid stacks that pair LLM analysis with generative visuals.
Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei has predicted AI will soon write 90% of code; while that may describe internal workflows at Anthropic, broader industry change could take longer. For now, the web launch signals Anthropic’s push to meet developers where they are while keeping the CLI as the most powerful, customizable way to run coding agents.
