Microsoft is adding AI-powered Generative Fill and Erase to Paint on Copilot Plus PCs, offering powerful image editing tools similar to Adobe Photoshop, making creatives less dependent on advanced software.
Building on the Co-Creator tool for Copilot Plus PCs, Microsoft has enhanced Paint with AI-powered Generative Erase and Fill tools, improving image editing speed and quality.
Both tools offer adjustable brush sizes for precise image edits. The Generative Erase removes unwanted objects, like background clutter and distractions, while the Generative Fill lets users add cool elements to an image using text descriptions, placing them exactly where needed—much like Photoshop’s latest feature.

Powered by an updated diffusion-based model, these features now include built-in moderation. Microsoft’s Photos app is also gaining Generative Erase and a new Super-Resolution tool, which can upscale images by up to 8x, surpassing Adobe Lightroom’s 4x capability.
