Amazon launched Project Amelia on Thursday, an AI assistant in beta for select U.S. sellers. Built on AWS’s Amazon Bedrock, Amelia helps merchants grow by providing real-time insights and resolving issues via Seller Central.

Amazon calls Project Amelia an ‘all-in-one, generative-AI selling expert’. It is now available through Seller Central, the internal dashboard for third-party merchants.

Amazon announced that select U.S. sellers will get early access, with a nationwide rollout to follow. Later this year, the feature will expand globally and support multiple languages beyond English.

The major purpose of Project Amelia is to provide sellers with tools that help their businesses grow.

With Amelia, sellers can effortlessly track their business growth by accessing key information like sales data and customer traffic.

Simply ask, “How is my business doing?” and the AI will provide a detailed summary of your metrics, including recent sales, units sold, and website traffic, all compared to last year’s performance. Sellers can also request in-depth metrics for individual products.

With this advancement, Project Amelia will also empower sellers to quickly resolve issues and assist with a variety of tasks, enhancing their overall experience.

Alongside these exciting features, Amelia will provide personalized assistance to Amazon’s sellers. For instance, if a seller asks, ‘I have 300 units on the way and don’t see that reflected in the report. Can someone look into this?’ Amelia is ready to help.

When needed, it will seamlessly connect them with Amazon’s support team, elevating the experience beyond that of a traditional chatbot.

Looking ahead, Project Amelia will be able to offer sellers “additional help managing the task” and may even “offer to solve the problem on a seller’s behalf,” Amazon says. However, the company hasn’t provided specifics or a timeline for launching these capabilities.

Mary Beth Westmoreland, VP of Amazon’s Worldwide Selling Partner Experience:

“We are always seeking to equip our selling partners with the most effective tools and capabilities, empowering them to more easily start and grow a successful business. By leveraging the transformative power of generative AI, we are creating and deploying technologies that will improve how sellers can manage and grow their businesses. Innovative solutions like Project Amelia are reducing the time, effort, and resources required from sellers to manage their business, allowing them more time for building great products and delighting customers.”

The future of Amelia looks promising. This innovation not only aims to boost sales but also to create a more intuitive shopping experience for customers, ultimately transforming the way businesses interact with their audience.
