Since the U.S. started limiting exports of advanced AI chips from major companies like Nvidia in 2022, ByteDance has been looking for new chip sources to boost its capabilities in the AI market.

In today’s revolutionary era, AI is everywhere, with industries from gaming to e-commerce relying on custom AI models and pattern recognition for smarter decision-making.

Companies like ByteDance are leading this shift by planning new AI models trained with Huawei’s Ascend 910B chips, a response to U.S. technology restrictions, according to sources who spoke on the condition of anonymity.

By leveraging local chip technology, ByteDance aims to enhance performance and create innovative solutions that redefine user experiences.  As demand for AI-driven solutions grows, the potential for technological breakthroughs and improved user engagement is greater than ever.

Another source has made a surprising claim, stating that while ByteDance is indeed planning a new AI model, it hasn’t confirmed the use of Huawei chips.

However, three sources mentioned that ByteDance is currently utilizing Huawei’s Ascend 910B for simpler inference tasks, which involve training models for predictions.

For the development of advanced models, the training demands large amounts of data with high-processing chips like Nvidia’s premium graphics processing units.

The new AI model being developed by ByteDance is expected to have capabilities and complexity that are less powerful than its existing model, Doubao, according to one insider.

Despite requests for clarification, ByteDance has not responded to the inquiries. However, Michael Hughes, a TikTok spokesman in Washington D.C., firmly disputed the claims, stating, “The entire premise here is wrong. No new model is being developed.”

This raises questions about the future of ByteDance’s AI initiatives amid ongoing speculation and industry developments.

As the story unfolds, the mystery surrounding ByteDance’s AI plans continues to grow, keeping industry watchers curious. With conflicting reports and a denial from the company, it’s unclear what the future holds for ByteDance’s AI ambitions.

Will they change direction, or is an exciting breakthrough coming soon? One thing is certain: ByteDance’s journey in AI is just starting, and the next chapter is sure to be exciting. Stay in the loop about ByteDance’s statement—follow AIChief for exciting updates you won’t want to miss!
